“This was a fantastic tour. We were exposed to many varying landscapes and subjects, so that everyday was a new adventure. The places we stayed were in great locations, great food, and very comfortable accommodations. Lance Rocked!!! Both Lance and the local guide were encouraging, friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. I liked the historical perspective as well."
- Meg F., Indianapolis, IN
"Lance, you're simply tops. This was my third workshop with you, each better than the last. Your abilities as a photographer, your commitment as a teacher, your warmth as a friend, are beyond compare. "And Olcan, what can I say? A week ago, when I met you, I thought to myself that this is someone I'd feel lucky to call a friend. A week later, I feel like I've just said goodbye to a member of my family."
Michael Quinn,
San Francisco
"Lance cares deeply that each workshop participant finds what they came in search of. His knowledge of both the technical and aesthetic concerns of photography is masterful, and his absolute passion for photography is inspiring. His good humor and sincerity have won my heart."

Ireland: Into the West
Sponsored by the New England School of Photography
July 16-24, 2010
with Lance Keimig
Please join me for my ninth photo tour to the West of Ireland with
our host, traditional Irish musician Olcan Masterson. This trip will
provide opportunities for both day and night photography, as well as pub outings to hear live traditional Irish Music. Our time will be spent primarily in County Mayoone of the most unspoiled parts of this amazing country.
Itinerary
Fro m our home base near Westport, we'll
travel south to Connemara and north to Achill Island to photograph hidden
beaches, druid woods and the eerie remains of a village abandoned during
the potato famine. Murrisk Abbey, which lies at the foot of Croagh Patrick,
is the starting point of an annual pilgrimage each July. Lance will lead
the more adventurous up the mountain one afternoon, while Olcan
takes the rest of the group on a gentler adventure. The dramatic landscapes
along the shores and inlets of Clew Bay provide endless photographic
possibilities.
Both days and nights will be filled with photography and cultural experiences.
Traditional culture thrives in Mayo, and participants will have plenty
of opportunity to explore Westport’s lively traditional Irish music scene
and numerous pubs. Our host Olcan is an amazing musician, and plays flute
and whistles in pub sessions several nights a week. Ireland is a country
where history is ever present in the landscape, and the lives of the Irish
people. Our trip will allow us to explore both the romantic legends and
sometimes harsh realities of Ireland's past.
Accommodations
Accommodations in Mayo will be in Hillcrest
House in beautiful County Mayo in the shadow of Croagh Patrick,
Ireland’s holy mountain. Hillcrest House was purchased to accommodate
photo groups, and its homelike quality adds to the relaxed atmosphere of
the trip. Hillcrest’s wonderful cook Maureen fixes breakfast every morning,
and a delicious hot dinner is served each evening. We'll have lunch at
local restaurants and pubs along the way, or perhaps stop for a picnic.
Transport is a roomy tour van, which has plenty of space for people
and equipment
Please take a minute to look
at my own photographs from past trips.
I hope you will join me on this exciting trip to the mythic West
of Ireland.
